My Experience Trekking in Bukit Lawang
I grew up in the jungle of Bukit Lawang, surrounded by the towering trees, the sounds of rushing rivers, and the calls of wildlife. Trekking through these jungles isn’t just something I do—it’s a part of who I am. Every step through the dense foliage brings memories of my childhood, climbing trees, swimming in hidden waterfalls, and learning the ways of the jungle from the elders.
Where I feel most at home, where I belong
The jungle is unpredictable, beautiful, and sometimes harsh. The heat can be intense, the paths slippery, and the leeches relentless, but nothing compares to the feeling of reaching a high ridge and looking out over the endless green canopy stretching beyond the horizon. It’s where I feel most at home, where I belong.
There are so many adventures waiting in Bukit Lawang. We can go deep into the jungle, spotting orangutans and playful monkeys swinging through the trees. Birdwatching here is something special, with the jungle alive with the sounds of exotic birds. The area is full of mystery, from Buddhist monks who have chosen to live in solitude among the trees to shamans who connect with nature in ways few understand.
Jungle treks range from one-day trips to full three-day expeditions. We sleep under the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the wild. I cannot promise luxury, but I can promise the most authentic experience you will ever have. Being in the jungle is like stepping into another world—one where nature rules and time slows down. It’s a place of adventure, discovery, and connection.
